FROM THE DESK OF THE CEO – SALAM AIDILFITRI 2017
Assalamualaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh
Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar
Praise be to Allah the Almighty, for it is by His will and blessing that we have been able to fulfill our obligations during Ramadhan. After a month of fasting soberly, we will now celebrating Hari Raya Aidilfitri, a time to rejoice for successfully observing the fast of Ramadhan.
But as we rejoice, do not forget those who are less fortunate than us and need our help. Let us be mindful of the needs of the poor and less fortunate and extend our compassion to them by paying the religious tithe (zakat fitrah) and giving alms (sadaqah). By these means, they can also celebrate the noble month of Syawal just like the rest of us.
On behalf of my family and myself as well as the whole staff of DDEC, I would like to take this opportunity to ask for forgiveness, in all humility, for any wrong that we may have committed, either by word or by deed, in the past year. I pray that the members of DDEC, MARA and KKLW will enjoy themselves thoroughly in celebrating Aidilfitri in the precious embrace of their loved ones, while keeping safety as their priority during this festive season.
May the mercy and blessings of Allah, the Most Glorified, accompany each and every step we take in our journey through life.
I wish all Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri!
Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, Walillahil Hamd
Abdul Rahman bin Mohd Saad

DESIGN SUMMIT 2015
Design Summit is an event that is planned as an annual DDEC affair. Design Summit 2015 will be held from 27th February to 1st March 2015, comprising of four main activities, namely: a Design Competition, a one-day design seminar styled as ‘DDEC Design Talks’, a two-day Design Expo, and a Gala Dinner in conjunction with the International Council of Societies of Industrial Design (ICSID) Executive Board Meeting in Kuala Lumpur.
The theme of Design Summit 2015 is ‘Celebrating Green+ Design’. This is a response in tandem with the many initiatives and programmes by the Malaysian government, the private sector and NGO’s pertaining to the national goals of addressing climate change and carbon emissions, in relation to sustainable development.
‘Celebrating Green+ Design’ is a timely reminder for Malaysia to accelerate its continuous efforts towards sustainable living environment. Through architectural design, industrial design and green branding, young and experienced designers throughout Malaysia are invited to bring forth designs that can contribute towards sustainable living in Malaysia. ‘Old habits die hard’ so goes the saying. However, with a strong determination and creative as well as innovative ways to assimilate old habits in new methods, these efforts will ensure that the future has something to look forward to. The eventual goal is designing for green products, green technology, and green buildings.Happenings
